Week 5-MBA6101- Adopting AI

 Adopting AI: Surfing the Tsunami

In a previous post, I went through the different responses to artificial intelligence: adapt, adopt and adept. Adapt is an ok response to AI and it is centered around being aware of AI whereas adopt is a better response and it includes adopting AI- related resources and platforms. The best response is adept and that is focused on getting directly involved with AI by creating and developing it. In the book Surfing the Tsunami by Dr Todd Kelsey, adopting AI is not the best response but it is one that is mostly taken. With the rapid increase and development of artificial intelligence, it is important that you become an advocate for it, especially in a company setting. Since many jobs can be replaced with AI, it is vital that as an employee, you lean into AI and not run from it. Otherwise, you could be out of a job.

For those individuals who are wanting to get their toes wet in AI, there are platforms that can make a basic introduction to the topic. One of the biggest companies that uses AI is Google. Google is storing and analyzing billions of data points at any given time and uses AI for marketing, sales, security, etc. AI is heavily utilized in this process. Consumers just think that ads pop up by chance but there are algorithms and strategizing to ensure that the right customer sees the right ad. With that being said, artificial intelligence is going nowhere. If anything, it is becoming more integrated into our lives to assist, market and streamline.
