Week 5-MBA 6101- Quantum Computing

 Quantum Computing

For those of you like me, the term quantum computing sounds so futuristic, as if it belongs on a spaceship with aliens running around. However, quantum computing refers to the use of quantum mechanics to run calculations. According to IBM, it is used for solving problems that are too complex for classical computers to compute. Quantum computing is used to solve the complex problems by using multidimensional environments where data points are able to be linked and these links are able to solve the problem.

Author and CEO Jack Hidary explained in his book Quantum Computing: An Applied Approach, explains the importance of individuals taking the time to learn and apply quantum computing, thus the purpose of the book. The book was created with three pillars in mind: to be technically rigorous, to be accessible and to be hands on. It can be used for employees at a corporation or for individuals who are wanting to learn more about quantum computing for their own education. Elements of quantum computing include superposition, entanglement and quantum interference. These elements correlate to harness the unique behavior of quantum physics. Quantum computing is a skill set that can be an impactful add on for a marketer. Marketing itself is becoming much more data driven and quantum computing plays a role in that.
